# Overview

> The first screen after you sign in - The health of the whole data layer serving your agents.

**Overview** answers one question: Is the data layer healthy today? Here you see which sources are ready, how much has been indexed, how retrieval quality is holding up - And most importantly, what needs attention.

## Sidebar and shared elements

The left sidebar appears on every screen:

| Element | Used to |

| Workspace box | Current workspace name and your role. Click to switch workspace |
| Search | Quickly find sources, KBs and documents in the workspace |
| Function menu | The function groups: Ingest & process · Knowledge · Quality · Administration. The numbers next to *Data sources* and *Knowledge bases* are current counts |
| Notifications (bell icon) | Unread notifications - Uploads finished, processing errors, configuration changes |
| Account | Name, role and the light / dark theme toggle |
| Collapse sidebar | Button in the top corner to give content more room |

## Overview layout

| Area | Content |

| Header | Time range picker (default *Last 7 days*) and the **Add source** button |
| Alert banner | One-line summary: how many items need attention, how many sources are ready |
| Metric cards | The key numbers of the data layer (see table below) |
| Daily ingestion volume | 14-day chart split into *Ingested successfully* and *Failed* - Includes both new ingestion and re-ingestion when source documents change |
| Needs attention | Issues directly affecting answer quality, each row with a **View** button |
| Most-queried knowledge bases | Retrievals via MCP / API per KB in the period |
| Lineage | Condensed diagram: Source → Processing → Knowledge base → Endpoint |

## What the metric cards mean

| Card | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Data sources | Total sources, with how many are ready and how many have errors |
| Indexed documents | Total documents indexed, across how many knowledge bases |
| Chunks / vectors | Total passages chunked and embedded across all KBs |
| Avg. retrieval score | Average score of retrievals, across KBs that have data |

## What to do on this screen

**1. Read the alert banner first**

If anything needs attention, scroll down to **Needs attention** and click **View** to open the exact document or KB with the problem.

**2. Check the ingestion chart**

A sudden jump in *Failed* usually means a batch of corrupt files or unsupported formats - Open **Data sources → Run history** for details.

**3. Follow the lineage**

Click each node in the lineage diagram to go from source to KB, then to the endpoint agents are calling.
